Ireland: Portstewart and the Giant's Causway

Day 9 was another beautiful day in Ireland. Rain started showing up on the forecast and clouds started to appear in my photos on this day. They cooled of the temperature just a touch and we were grateful for that. The sisters and I headed out to see the Giant's Causeway.

The Giant's Causeway is an area of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that were formed from volcanic activity. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and one of Irelands top attractions (as you can see from the photo above). Simular columns are found in Scotland and there are diffrent stories about a giant building a road (or causeway as they call them in Ireland) to Scotland to fight an enemy giant or find his lost love.

This site has been at the top of the sisters list and I am glad we got to see in on such a nice day.
